UploadVR review of 'A Fisherman's Tale'
Hi! I'm Rob. I'm a writer, experience designer and Creative Director.
I started my career as a Lead Game Writer at PlayStation. I wrote the first playable demo for PlayStationVR and co-wrote groundbreaking AR games with the world's bestselling living author.
I wrote the critically-acclaimed A Fisherman's Tale (VR Awards Game of the Year 2019). I've written numerous VR games and training simulations, including the first accredited VR business masterclass, used by Coca-Cola and Nike.
I'm an immersive theatre writer and dramaturge. I also design hybrid live+XR experiences for iconic brands and cultural institutions.
As Creative Director of Playlines, I've directed augmented reality theatre internationally, and created XR installations in partnership with Sky Arts, The National Gallery, Netflix and Hasbro.
I'm a visiting fellow at King's College London and I lecture widely on XR experience design and augmented ethics.
My most recent VR game One True Path is now available FREE in Early Access.
My groundbreaking immersive theatre show 1881 just finished an extended run as the National Theatre of Malta's highest-grossing show.

My book Storytelling for Spatial Computing and Mixed Reality: the Art of Augmenting Imagination is the first dedicated handbook on narrative design for XR/spatial technology.
It draws on my decade of experience to provide a practical guide to the next storytelling frontier.
The book gets you up to speed on the technology and terminology of XR storytelling, then dives into augmenting players and places with layers of digital story and adventure.
It gives a wide range of case studies drawing on everything from classical drama to immersive theatre, hardcore gaming, LARP, live games, visual art, photography and filmmaking.
But it's about the story YOU want to tell. This is a manual of possibilities, not parameters.
Includes 25x practical challenges to help you build your own portfolio of spatial narrative prototypes. There's also sections on accessibility & inclusion, XR storytelling ethics, and a step-by-step guide to developing your first spatial narrative project from concept to pitch.
